Microbiology DX: Ordering and Understanding MARCoNS testing
A Talk by Dr. Joseph Musto (Predsident, Microbiology Dx)
About this Talk
Huge thanks to one of our wonderful sponsors, Microbiology DX! This CIRS Summit is possible because of these awesome sponsors. Dr. Joe Musto is the founder of MicrobiologyDX, the premier lab for MARCoNs testing in the United States. In this interview, he discusses MARCoNs testing and treatment for the CIRS population.
MARCoNs is an acronym for Multiple Antibiotic Resistant Coagulase Negative Staphlococcus. It is important in CIRS because it produces exotoxins which cause the decomposition of the hormone MSH and Hemolysin, which effects the coagulation system. Low MSH in Biotoxin Illness causes fatigue, chronic pain, increased cytokines, increased inflammation, hormone imbalance and other pathophysiological symptoms. MSH at normal levels protects the nasal mucus membranes from contracting MARCoNs.
